Richard Dadd: Beyond Bedlam

Travelling through Turkey, Syria and Egypt in search of picturesque subjects, Victorian artist Richard Dadd experienced psychosis and ultimately went on to spend 42 years as a patient in Bethlem Hospital, and later at Broadmoor. A prolific creator of fairytale worlds, he created artworks with a high degree of originality. Finding new popularity in the ‘70s, his works inspired, among other, the band Queen.
